I have always been a fan of the simple, imperfect, scribble type artwork that The Cure has used on many of their albums and merchandise. I wanted to create something in that style, being much more free and minimal than I am used to with my work.

This poster was for the show in Phoenix, AZ, which is known as the “Valley Of The Sun”. So, I kinda am and kinda not being literal, when I thought to draw a Phoenix, rising, looking up to the sun.

I also like drawing and including eyes in many of my posters. Which also can relate back to The Cure’s artwork, from their album, Wish.
